CASUALTY ASSISTANCE REP. (CAR) Provides prompt reporting for active duty deaths/injuries; ensures timely notification of next of kin (NOK); assists NOK in applying for survivor benefits.
CRISIS ASSISTANCE
Provides immediate, short-term support to help individuals and families with challenging life situations. Activities: One-on-one consultations
EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE
Assists individuals and family members with short- and long-term career goals. Includes seminars/workshops to develop job skills. Participant in annual Red River Expo Job Fair. Activities: Job Searching
in Altus; One-on-one consultations
FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION
Enhances the individual’s knowledge, skills, and abilities to anticipate and meet challenges throughout the various stages of family life.FAMILY READINESS
Provides on-going education and assistance
to individuals and families during mobilizations/deployments, evacuations,
local and national emergencies. Activities: Key Spouse Program; Hearts Apart Support Group; Car Care Because We Care; Give Parents A Break; Morale Calls; one-on-one consultations
INFORMATION & REFERRAL
Helps personnel and their families identify and clarify needs and determine the appropriate forms of assistance; provides a link to those resources; identifies issues and trends and needs assessment. Discovery Center available. Activities: One-on-one consultations
PERSONAL FINANCIAL
MANAGEMENT (PFM)
Offers education and personal financial counseling to help individuals and their families maintain financial stability. Checkbook maintenance, budgeting, and handling credit card debt are just a few topics discussed with personnel upon arrival at their first duty station; refresher education to E4s and below upon arrival at their new base. Activities: FTAC Money Matters; PFM Refresher (Officer and Enlisted); Lunch & Learn; One-on-one consultations
RELOCATION ASSISTANCE
Provides information and services to relocating personnel and their families
to lessen the stress of moving. Loan Closet available. Activities: It’s Your Move; Sponsorship Training; Child Care for PCS; One-on-one consultations
RETIREE AFFAIRS OFFICE
Serves military retirees, spouses, widows and widowers. Designed to unify and support the retired and active military communities.
SCHOOL LIAISON OFFICER
Provide school information to parents prior
to arrival at Altus AFB. Assists with school related issues while families are stationed here, and facilitates a smooth transition for families who are departing from Altus AFB. Additionally, the School Liaison Officer partners with area school districts to help meet the unique needs of their military students. Activities: One-on-one consultations
SURVIVOR BENEFIT PLAN (SBP) Counselor provides information on SBP
to potential retirees and spouses to enable
them to make an informed decision on
whether or not to participate in the plan.
TRANSITION ASSISTANCE
Provides information and services to separating and/or retiring individuals to assist with a smooth transition from the Air Force. Participant in annual Red River Expo Job Fair. Representative from the Oklahoma Department
of Veterans Affairs visits weekly. Representatives from the Small Business Development Center and Troops to Teachers
are available. Activities: Entitlements & Benefits Counseling; TAP 3-Day workshop; Resume & Job Search Assistance; One-on-one consultations
VOLUNTEER RESOURCE
Coordinates volunteer recruitment, placement, training, and recognition in conjunction with other base agencies. Special Interest Items: Child Care for Volunteers; Volunteer Recognition; Volunteer Excellence Award (VEA)
