Honor Guard
The Altus AFB Honor Guard’s primary mission is to provide military funeral honors for past and present USAF Airmen within a coverage area of 37,000 square miles, encompassing 43 counties in Oklahoma. we are dedicated to delivering final respects, acknowledging the individual’s military dedication with solemnity and reverence.
In addition, our secondary role involves offering Color Guard support within Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. As part of this duty, we carry ceremonial rifles and Air Force flags, participating in local events such as presentations of Colors and parades.
Our commitment to honoring the service of Active, Retiree, and Veteran service members is evident in our presence at various ceremonious occasions, including Promotions, Retirements, and funerals. Services provided encompass flag folding presentations, pallbearing, color presentations, firing parties, and bugle renditions.

All requests for off-installation Color Guards must undergo review by our Public Affairs Office. We highly recommend submitting your request at least 30 days in advance to ensure ample time for scheduling and approval, thereby avoiding any potential issues.
Service Details
Full Military Honors (only for Deceased Air Force/Army Air Core-Active Duty/Reservist & Air National Guard on Active Orders) -20-person detail that includes a 6-person pallbearer/flag fold, a 7-person firing party, a 4-person color guard team, a bugler playing “Taps”, and presentation of the US flag to the next-of-kin.
Standard Military Honors (only for Deceased Retired AF or Army Air Core/Traditional Reservist) – First variation: a 7-person detail that includes a 2-person flag folding team, a 3-person firing party, a bugler playing “Taps”, and presentation of the US flag to the next-of-kin.
Minimum Military Honors (Deceased Veteran) – 3-person detail consisting of 2-person flag folding, playing of “Tap”, and presentation of the US flag to the next-of-kin.
Colors Team/Posting – Minimum 4, up to 6 member team consisting of “Presentation of the Colors”.
Retirement Ceremony – Minimum 4, up to 6 member team consisting of “Presentation of the Colors” and 2-person flag folding.
Reveille and Retreat Demonstration/Training – Minimum of 4-member team consisting of 2-person flag folding and 2-person flag detail.

Who We Honor First
Please understand that funeral honors take precedence over all the Honor Guard activities or details. There might be a chance that non-funeral requests will be denied or cancelled if the Honor Guard becomes overtasked with funeral ceremonies.
